As of this writing, there were 170 customer comments and 29 answered questions on Amazon for the Genesis 2-Speed Screwdriver. I've read through the feedback left on Amazon and then condensed the results into this report. I hope that this helps you while shopping for a screwdriver.
The Genesis 2-Speed Screwdriver runs on a Lithium-Ion Battery. The screwdriver has 2 speeds which are 200 and 400 RPMs. It features a 1/4 inch hex quick change chuck with 16 torque/clutch settings. Other features include a built-in LED work light that and a battery charge level indicator. With your purchase of this screwdriver, you also get a UL listed adaptor, 4 hex shank drill bits and 4 screwdriver bits.
The LED Light is a nice feature. It lets you see when there are low light conditions present. Most people liked the LED light, though some thought that the positioning of the light could have been better. Or that a second light could have been added on.
Powerful for Its Compact Size
This is not going to be a tool that you can build a barn with, but it is useful for around the house small jobs. When reading through the reviews, every once in awhile someone would say how it's not very powerful, while others praised it for the compact convenience that it provided. You have to take the Genesis 2-Speed Screwdriver for what it is, and what it is, is a compact screwdriver and powerful for it's small size.
One customer summed it up well when he said, "You may not be able to build a house with this tool, but you sure can fix a lot of stuff around the house. I purchased this because of the bonus drill bits and screw driver bits." While many others agreed. A different customer said, "This is a nice little drill for residential home use. We used it to hang curtains in our house, and we're very satisfied with how this Genesis drill performs. I wouldn't use it for heavy duty projects, but for light, all-around-the-house use, it is the perfect tool for the job."
The Genesis 2-Speed Screwdriver is priced low. For the great price, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good cordless screwdriver for using around the house. Some people like to have their big power drill and then use this one as a bonus screwdriver for small jobs. With the low price, it makes it affordable for people to have one as an extra. A lot of comments were left about the price, such as the following, "So much power for such an affordable price and also nice small light size."
One of the nice things about lithium batteries is that once charged up you should be able to leave it for months at a time without it loosing it's power. However, I did come across a lot of complaints about how this battery would not hold a charge. Over time and use, batteries do tend to stop holding charges until they basically are just finished and need to be discarded. But what concerned me about this battery is that a lot of people commented that it was still a fairly new battery and drill that would not hold a charge.
Here is one of the many battery complaints: "Purchased this about 1 year ago. Charged up per instructions. After a few months of occasional use I had to charge again. Left on charge for about 48 hours. Now unit will not hold a full charge. I can use on 2nd speed for about 3 minutes. Cuts off. Place on charge for about 10 minutes and I can get another 3-4 minutes. Holding battery button shows green light. Plug in and it shows red light. Leave plugged in for a few hours, still red light."
In all fairness, there were also a lot of positive comments about the battery such as this one, " I have not charged it since I got it. Outstanding battery life." And many more like this one, " battery stays charged seemingly forever."
Genesis 2-Speed Screwdriver Conclusion
The Genesis 2-Speed Screwdriver is a nice, convenient powerful screwdriver for it's size. It's not a large power drill but rather a convenient little screwdriver that you may want to keep around for small household projects. The quality of the battery is questionable. Some people had no problems with it. However, some said that even fairly new batteries stopped holding a charge. You can return it for a replacement, but some people didn't like that they would have to pay for the return shipping. Some nice qualities to this screw driver are the LED light. People liked that the light lit up the area that they were working on. The light feature is especially helpful in low light conditions. Some people did comment that the position of the light could have been a bit better. But overall, other than some people receiving faulty batteries, for the price, this is a nice compact screwdriver that you may want to have around for small household jobs.
