Heavy and Narrow Rungs
This is not a lightweight ladder. The ladder weight is 35.4 pounds. If you have problems carrying heavy objects, this may not be for you. Also, the rungs are narrow which may make it hard for heavier people to remain on the ladder for prolonged use. A customer explained, “I ordered this after comparing multiple other products filling the same role. This was priced well and had good reviews. It was easy to figure out how to use and has met my needs extremely well so far. There are only two downsides I have noticed so far, and a lot of reviews mention the first so it was no surprise, and that is that the ladder is extremely heavy. If my wife needs to use it I don’t think she could carry it up the stairs from the basement and would have to wait for me to get it for her. The second minor issue is the rungs are very narrow and I had to take some breaks with prolonged use. I am a bigger man (300 lbs.) and that likely led to some or all of the issue, but I wanted to point it out. Otherwise, it does everything as advertised and I am happy with my purchase for the price.”
This is a very sturdy ladder. One of the benefits of a heavy ladder like this is that in return you get a sturdy ladder. A customer commented, “Really nice ladder for the price. As stated on other reviews, it is heavy, but that makes it more sturdy! My husband and I took it out immediately and messed with the positioning capabilities. It was VERY easy to adjust. It reached our 17 ft high ceilings, and I felt comfortable when I climbed on it. Recommend highly!”
Because The Vulcan Ladder USA Multi-Task Ladder is made of aluminum, it won’t rust. This is a nice feature, especially if you are prone to leave your ladder out in the elements. A customer commented, ” It won’t rust, so I can’t imagine what would go wrong with it. It seems sturdy and stable as any other plank I’ve used. Light weight, and glad I have it.”
The Vulcan Ladder USA Multi-Task Ladder has rubber feet and a flared out design. This makes the bottom very stable. It also won’t scratch floors and other sensitive surfaces, which is a nice feature, especially when you will be using it indoors.
There were multiple comments about this ladder arriving scratched up. It may have to do with the packaging which some customers thought was not good. Here is one of the negative packaging comments, “packaging does not protect the ladder enough so may arrive scratched or worse.”
Most people won’t need this ladder to do more than a few configurations, but it’s a nice feature that it is able to figure 23 different positions. Most people found that changing positions of this ladder was easy to do.
Easy to Set up and Take Down
This ladder received positive comments on how easy it is to set up and take down. Here is one of those comments, “Bought it in case I needed to replace a fire alarm battery in my bedroom. Gave it a work out for Halloween, Christmas lights and outside light fixtures too. Works perfectly. Very easy to set up and take down, once you figure it out. a week ago, lo and behold, fire alarm battery chirped, of course at 3 am. Busted out the Vulcan and in no time flat changed batter and went back to sleep. Not sure what I would have done before as my old ladder was only an 8 footer. Definitely worth the money. Getting the Little giant accessory now. Hopefully, it will fit.”
The Vulcan Ladder USA Multi-Task Ladder had good reviews for safety. Here is one of those comments, “I did a lot of research on ladders before buying this one. This one is sturdy and safe, even at its maximum extension. I’ve used it to hang pictures on my vaulted walls, to wash high ledges, and to hang holiday decorations on my house. This is absolutely a sturdy and safe ladder. It is easy to put up and down and has a secure locking system.”
May Need Two People to Lift to Extended Position
A downside to a ladder like this that configures to so many different positions, is that it may be harder to lift to the extended position alone. A customer explained, “The ladder has minimal flex in the full extended configuration, but lifting a 17′ long straight ladder into the vertical position is generally a two person job. You need something or someone to keep the legs from sliding while you walk it into the vertical position. If you frequently need a straight ladder or work alone, a standard extension ladder may be a better choice.”
For what you get, The Vulcan Ladder USA Multi-Task Ladder is priced well. A customer commented, “Did some research and found that VULCAN LADDER USA ETX-69 SCAFFOLD PLANK was the lowest price. I was not too concern about the price but the quality and quality control. I zoomed in on photo and noticed it to be very similar to Werner brand. I purchased this item and when it arrived, it had some minor scratches.(probably due to shipping to Hawaii) I checked item End caps, Spreader bars, and Platform bars with a magnet. Magnet did not stick so I assume it’s made of Aluminum. Magnet “did” stick on rivets. I assume it’s made of some non-corrosive material(stainless steel?). I extended platform to rest on end caps between two ladders and I sat in the middle with no sagging noticed (tested for sag only). I like the fact that Vulcan Ladder posted “250-pound Combined capacity”. No Regrets in purchasing this item. ‘HIGHLY SATISFIED.'”
- 23 configurations
- May be hard to extend to full length alone
- Some ladders arrived scratched up. Could be due to poor packaging

Here are some top questions that I found for people considering buying the Vulcan Ladder USA Multi Task Ladder.
- How high can the ladder reach in the stepladder configuration? The 13′ goes to 5′ step, the 17′ goes to 7′ step and the 21′ goes to 9′ step.
- Are there any accessories included with this ladder, such as a platform? No, there are no accessories included. With that being said, not many ladders come with accessories.
- Where is the ladder made? I see “USA” in the name, but nothing says it is actually made in the USA. Although the name “USA” is in the title of this ladder, most customers thought it was made in China. However, there are two office locations listed on the manufacturer’s website that are in the USA. Perhaps that is why “USA” is in the name of this ladder.
