Candy Cane Crafts That Will Make This Season Brighter

Candy canes are a special treat that only come out at Christmas. The candy cane is to Christmas, what candy corn is to Halloween. However, these minty red and white striped candies are good for so much more than just stocking stuffers! So grab your glue gun, some tape, and ribbon and make some fun candy cane crafts with the whole family. These festive crafts are sure to make your holiday season a little brighter!

Candy Cane Wreath

The first suggestion for candy cane crafts is a candy cane wreath. A festive wreath on your front door is a great way to welcome your friends and family to your home. Because most wreaths are made of greenery you could use green and white striped candy canes for a fun twist! Lay your candy canes out on the floor and adjust them until you get a circle in the size you want. Then simply begin hot glueing the sides of the candy canes together. Hold the steady after applying the glue so that they dry straight. Then decorate your “wreath” with ribbons, bows or ornaments.

Ornaments for the Tree

Many people hang candy canes on their Christmas trees. There were so many tutorials online teaching readers how to transform a cane into the most darling ornaments. One of our favorite was a Christmas Mouse tutorial. All it took was some felt, and a needle and thread! Cut out a piece of felt in the shape of a mouse body and one piece in the shape of two ears. You can sew on two black buttons for eyes or glue on googly eyes for a quicker route. Once you loop the ears through the body all that is left is to glue or loop a candy cane on for the tail. These not only make adorable ornaments, but could also serve as present toppers.

Candy Cane Crafts for Kids

If you are looking for candy cane crafts to do with kids, look no further! This easy craft is perfect for kids. They can make up a few dozen of these in one afternoon and then hand them out to friends, neighbors or teachers. The only supplies you will need are some googly eyes, red or black pom poms, and brown pipe cleaners. Adult supervision may be required for children who are too young to use a glue gun. However, no adult supervision is needed to enjoy this fun and delicious treat!

Candy Cane Place Card Holder

There are some candy cane crafts that use mini candy canes to make a big impression. If you find yourself hosting a Christmas dinner this year, try making candy cane place card holders for your guests. These simple candy cane crafts can be completed in just under an hour. (Depending on how many you are making!) They will provide the perfect touch to any holiday gathering.

Holiday Baking

Probably the best way to use candy canes this season is to use them in your holiday treats. You can place mini candy canes in a ziplock bag and crush them. This makes them easy to sprinkle on top of cookies, brownies or ice cream. Another fun idea is to use your candy canes as stir sticks in your hot chocolate. This steamy treat is sure to put a smile on your face.

In Conclusion

Candy canes are such a fun part of the holiday. Don’t let this time of year pass without trying out at least one or two fun candy cane crafts. You are bound to find one or two crafts that will soon become a favorite holiday tradition.
