Winter Bucket List Ideas: Fun for the Whole Family All Winter Long

Winter is hard for some people. With the cold weather and less sunlight, it can be hard to stay in an upbeat, positive mood. Having a Winter bucket list will actually keep you busy and help you to have more fun during dark days. Plus, your kids will love having something fun to do every day. It can be hard to think of new things to do, so we’ve done the work for you. Here are some Winter bucket list ideas that will help your whole family have fun all Winter long.

Winter Bucket List Ideas

Ice Skating

Ice skating is such a fun activity that everyone can enjoy. Yes, it can be pretty hard especially for little ones. However, ice rinks have small stabilizers now that little kids can slide along the ice to keep themselves from falling. Be sure to have your little ones wear a helmet if you’re worried about them getting hurt. It’s a fun skill to learn and everyone will like trying something new. Plus it is good exercise.

Sledding

Sledding is a blast! Find a big, or a small hill. Some of your kids might be daredevils while others might like to play it safe. Find somewhere that each child can enjoy. Go slow or fast but have fun sliding down the hills. You could even have races to see who can go the fastest.

Build a Snowman

Building a snowman is a classic Winter activity. It’s so much fun! It’s even more fun when you have lots of props to customize each snowman. Gather props such as hats, scarves, mittens, fake noses, or mustaches. You could try to create someone from your family out of snow, or create your own unique character. If your family is competitive then you could make it into a contest to see who builds the best one.

Indoor Camping

It might be too cold outside for camping, but that shouldn’t stop you from having your very own indoor campground. Start a fire in the fireplace and break out the sleeping bags. Make s’mores in the fireplace or make campfire dinners on the stove or in the oven. Let your kids sleep on the floor in their sleeping bags or inside the tent in the living room. It makes for a fun night that they won’t forget.

Make Mugs

Make your own customized mugs that each member of your family can enjoy all Winter. There are lots of fun places to go that have mugs for everyone to customize. Everyone will get to pick their color and actually paint it themselves. Then the store will bake the mugs for you so that your mug is ceramic. Now, everyone will enjoy their special mug each time they drink from it. Make some yummy hot cocoa for everyone so that they can use their brand new mugs.

Make Donations

The holiday season during the Winter is a good time to be grateful for everything that you have. However, it’s important to remember that there are a lot of people that are less fortunate than you are. Go through your clothes and find some that are still in good shape but that you might not wear very often. Donate your clothes to a family in need or a local donation center. Or help out at your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter by donating food or your time.

Go to the Library

When is the last time you went to the library with your kids to have them pick out books? Spend as long as your kids want in the library finding books they’ve never read before. Check out as many as you can and enjoy reading them together while you’re all snuggled up at home. Each child can pick their own books, or have them be in teams and find books about a certain topic like “snow” or “Winter.”

Summing Up

Winter doesn’t need to be a time of misery and gloom. There are so many fun things that you can fill your day with. Make each day special and unique and each member of your family will love Winter. These Winter buckets list ideas are sure to bring a smile to everyone’s faces. You might also want to add your own items to this Winter bucket list and that’s great! The more things you can think of to add to your Winter bucket list, the more fun you’ll have.
