The manufacturer’s blue-model listing identifies SKU 642456, an age range of 9 months to 4 years and a maximum child weight of 50 pounds. It specifies home outdoor use. Check your seat’s own label and instructions, since a similar photograph is not proof that an older version has identical requirements.
The T-bar opens for getting a child into and out of the seat, and the shoulder straps adjust around the child. These restraints are not suspension-height adjusters. Use the configuration specified for the child’s stage in the matching manual; do not remove or bypass restraints simply because a child dislikes them.
The 2017 recall needs a specific check
The CPSC’s February 2017 recall covers certain pink 2-in-1 Snug ’n Secure swings because their plastic seats can crack or break. The affected model is 615573. Included date stamps have an inner arrow pointing to 10, 11, 12 or 13; an inner 9 is also included when the outer number is 43 or higher.
Use the notice’s photographs to identify the molded markings. Stop using an affected swing and follow the listed remedy with Little Tikes. If the markings are unreadable or you cannot establish whether a used seat is affected, ask the manufacturer before use. The recall notice’s exclusions are specific to that recall; they do not certify the present condition of any other swing.
Installation questions to resolve before purchase
- Does the support structure explicitly accept this type of swing and its required attachment arrangement?
- Are all suspension parts present, undamaged and approved for the model?
- Can you provide the required ground clearance, surrounding use zone and protective surfacing?
- Can an adult reach the child comfortably and supervise throughout play?
Do not turn this home outdoor model into an indoor ceiling swing using improvised hooks. Likewise, extra rope, chain or climbing hardware should not be substituted merely because it appears strong. Obtain the manufacturer’s instructions for the intended installation and resolve compatibility before hanging it.
Everyday use and maintenance
Check the seat for cracks, the buckles for secure engagement, and the ropes and attachment points for wear before play. Stop use if a restraint is missing or damaged. The manufacturer provides a replacement-parts route, but match the part to the model rather than buying a visually similar strap.
Help the child sit properly, fasten the restraints as directed and keep other children outside the moving swing’s path. A supportive seat does not eliminate the need for supervision.
