Brush May Rotate and Becomes Loose When Extended
The problem with some brushes like this that extend, is that they may become loose since you are dealing with more than one part. That is the case with this brush according to some customers. One person said, “I have noticed that, when the brush is extended, there is a growing looseness that allows the brush to rotate from side to side and is limiting its efficacy. At the rate at which it is loosening, I would expect that this brush will be broken before the end of winter. As a note, it does not seem to have this problem when the brush is not extended. So, it may continue to work, but I doubt that I will be able to use it in the extended position for much longer, which seriously limits the utility of the item.”
Make Sure to Select Extendable Size
There was some confusion with people as to which size brush that they were buying. Make sure to double check at checkout that you selected the extendable type. A customer explained, “Before you buy this, check to see whether it’s listed as “Size: Regular” or “Size: Extendable.” When I bought this, there was no mention of different options, and there were Q&A’s and reviews that referenced the extendability, so I bought it thinking that was a feature I was getting. However, I apparently bought one that’s Size: Regular (Model 10021), and it DOES NOT extend. A closer look at the “Compacted Dimensions” vs. “Regular Dimensions” shows that the only length difference is from the broom rotating from parallel to perpendicular orientation.”
This is not a top of the line brush, so, unfortunately, it may not last long. The problem with extension brushes are that if they are not properly made, the parts where the extensions fit together can become easily broken. A customer commented, “On the second or third attempted use, the extension shaft pulled out past the last stop. It did not come apart, but remained jammed, fully extended past its intended maximum length. I could no longer retract the shaft back into the handle. Using the brush in this manner put stress on the plastic collar/mechanism surrounding the top of the handle. It is now cracked in two.”
Brush May Be Too Harsh for Vehicle Paint
Some people felt that this was more of a windshield snow brush more than a snow mover for the whole vehicle. The reason being is that some felt that it may scrape the vehicle. A customer shared, “I live in Buffalo NY area and was looking for a great snow brush that would clear snow from a SUV. First I bought two. When I unwrapped them I found that the snow mover had many more rows of bristles than the average store-bought snow brushes. Helpful for moving a lot of snow. The shaft is pretty strong and it is easy to adjust to the length that I need. We had no snow at the time but I thought it would make great presents for the rest of my family so I bought 4 more. Heavy snow arrived so I was eager to try the new snow mover. The brush was ok for heavy snow but the scraper worked very well. I was able to easy scrape off the ice from the windshield. The brush worked but I worry about scraping the paint so I don’t feel that it is a mover but is great for windshields. The reach is fantastic for tall vehicles and the swivel stays in place. I am glad I bought the car brush but won’t use it anywhere but for the windshield.”
Button Hard to Push
Some people felt that the push button was hard to push. A lot of this may depend on if it is very cold out. Because this is an outside winter tool, chances are it will be cold when you use it. The colder it is out, the harder it will most likely be to push it in. One customer said, “It disassembles for easy storage (I assume?), but the button that takes it apart is hard to press when I’m warm and comfortable on my couch, wearing gloves or with cold hands, it would be very difficult.”
The handle is comfortable according to the majority of people who purchased this product. Comfort is going to be important if you plan on using this often. One customer wrote, “It has nice foam grips which are very comfortable and has a good ice scraper. At full extension, I can easily clear snow off the top of my Toyota 4Runner (I’m 5’7″ tall). Hope that all helps, I would definitely recommend this product and it would make a great gift!” wrote a customer.”
Price Is a Little High
Some people felt that the price was too high for what they were receiving. This is not a top of the line snow mover, so it is a bit overpriced. One person explained it this way, “I was completely willing to pay the premium price for a product that saved time when clearing off my SUV, but am extremely disappointed at the durability of this product. It’s clearly meant to push snow around, but not built just doesn’t live up to the task.”
Push Button Easily Breaks
Some people reported that the push button broke off easily. The button seems to be the major flaw and weakness in this otherwise nice brush. Here is one of those comments, “Seemed nice and sturdy, until I pushed the button to adjust the angle on the brush. It broke and flew off on the first push. I’m sure there was a spring in there that is now….somewhere. I have high hopes the vacuum will find it now. Looks like the little retention tab broke. Unacceptable for something around twenty bucks.”
- Push button may easily brake
- High price
- Durability questionable
