Powerful for Being Electric
In general most electric leaf blowers are not as powerful as gas-operated leaf blowers. However, The Toro Leaf Blower ranks up there as very powerful for an electric unit. A customer said, "It is a bit more powerful than the earlier one and it does have two speeds, the lower speed is quite handy when I get blowing around the table or chairs especially things don't go flying off so easily. By the way, don't buy based on the mph of the output. You can have a straw that puts out 400 mph. I suppose the velocity ratings are useful in trying to figure out which is more powerful but I would suggest looking at the amperage as your best bet for comparisons. However having a bigger faster stream of air is not necessarily a blessing, This one is strong enough to blow rocks out of the borders, stronger would seem to have relatively little use without a much bigger yard. "
One big benefit of electric blowers like this Toro Leaf Blower is that all you need to do is plug it in and press start and you are ready to go. No need to pull a cord multiple times like with gas-powered leaf blowers. Just plug it in,switch it on and you are ready for work. A customer shared, "But I love, and have always loved, how it is electric. I cannot start gas anything. I have a bad neck and shoulder so I need to be able to plug things or have them cordless for ease. So if you want a good dependable blower that will last for years to come, this is it."
One advantage of this Toro Leaf Blower is that it doesn't take up much space. That means that you should be able to easily store it just about anywhere without it taking up too much of your storage space. A customer shared, "Since it is fairly compact, I leave it on the back porch and just grab and go over the yard every day practically because it is so easy and gets the job done in about five minutes. I used to HATE dragging out the giant blower I used to have and then trying to hang it back up and it was huge and ugly. I know its ridiculous, but small stuff you use all the time can really make a difference, so, I highly recommend this to anyone!!! An extra plus is that if you are older or have arthritis, it is easier to use!"
Only 4.6 Pounds in Weight
At only 4.6 pounds, this is one of the lightest electric leaf blowers out there. If you are elderly or suffering from any injuries, or maybe you just don't want to lug around a 20 plus pound leaf blower, The Toro Leaf Blower Might be for you. A customer shared, "This unit is very lightweight. I have nothing to compare it to, as far as other blowers are concerned, but I find it very easy to hold and use to sweep back and forth without having my arms get tired and want to fall off. Its nice that it has two speeds, but I find myself just using the highest speed as it blows the hardest. This thing really does blow and it blows hard! I find it perfect for the grass that didn't get picked up by the mower or the leaves that need to be put into a pile. It blows hard enough to get the rocks back into the yard, too. I even used this thing to blow the dust out of my insanely dusty computer (and it worked like a charm)!"
Extension Cord Not Included
Unfortunately, you will need to buy an extension cord since it is not included in the purchase price of this Toro Leaf Blower. When you do purchase an extension cord, make sure to get 12 gage just to be safe. A customer shared this advice, "The manual section on which extension cord to use is very poorly written. When the manual says "Use 14 gauge or HIGHER", what they MEAN is 14 gauge is OK, 12 gauge is BETTER, 16 gauge will destroy the motor. The manual uses the comparative term "HIGHER" but fails to specify that they are speaking ELECTRICALLY higher, NOT numerically HIGHER, which the average user is not going to realize is two opposite directions. According to the MANUAL, if your cord is max 50 feet long, you can use a 16 gauge cord. At 100 feet they suggest 14 gauge, and at 150 feet 12 gauge. To help you understand this, the longer the cord length, the more difficulty the cord has in delivering current to higher wattage tools. So you will RUIN your tools if you plug them into a wire with a gauge that is insufficient. You cannot go wrong with 12 gauge wire, so I recommend using 12 even though the cord costs a bit more and is heavier. Unless you are staying under 20 feet, go with 12 for maximum safety."
Good Price for What You Get
Granted this is not a top of the line leaf blower, but you also won't be spending a lot if you buy it. The price really is very good and low. But you pay for what you get and in this case, you will get a nice little, electric leaf blower. Just don't expect it to blow leaves like a larger gasoline-powered leaf blower will. A customer shared, " It is great for what I need it for and the price was great. However, if you run a lawn service were you will be using it a lot or everyday then I would recommend buying a commercial grade at a much higher price. I guess it depends on what you want. High price and last a long time or cheap price and a smaller grade in quality but still gets the job done. As long as it works I will keep it. I did not want to a lot of money in a leaf blower that most of the time was going to sit on a shelf anyway. I got what I paid for and I gave it four stars."
