Amdro Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait is an effective way to get rid of ants though it may take up to a couple of weeks.  This is not a kill on contact kind of product.  Rather the ants take the food back to their colony and the whole population will eventually die off.  Make sure to use caution around livestock and pets so that they don't get into it.
