Wheels Are a Nice Added Feature
A nice feature is that The Little Giant 22-Foot Velocity Multi-Use Ladder has wheels for ease of transport. For a ladder of this size and weight, it really is a nice feature, especially for the individual that may have a hard time carrying it very far around. Some people felt that the ladder was heavy and that the wheels were a necessity while others felt that they didn't need the wheels to transport it. But most of the customers appreciated that they had an option of carrying or pushing the ladder on wheels. One customer had this to say, "This is a fantastic ladder system for some of the higher off the ground projects. I was able to easily position it to get next to the wall and install speakers (extending one side out so it looked like a slide from the side). It is reasonably easy to carry (it is not as heavy as it looks), but there are also wheels if you wish to use them. I found it easier to simply bend my knees, hook my hand over my shoulder, then grasp the rings of the ladder--stand up and walk to where I needed to go."
Average Weight for Size
Some people felt that this was a heavy ladder, while others felt it was not that heavy for its size. The Little Giant 22-Foot Velocity Multi-Use Ladder weighs 39 pounds which isn't that heavy compared to other ladders of its size. However, some people felt it was too heavy for them to maneuver. A customer had this to say about the weight, "I was intending to use this ladder for a home inspection business, but the 39 pounds advertised weight felt like an extremely heavy 39 pounds. I am not a small man compared to others but this was a heavy ladder. I returned it and I appreciate their flexibility with that return. Their return policy definitely made it worth trying."
Easy to Set Up
The majority of the comments were positive for how easy this ladder was to set up. Here is one of the comments from a customer, "Just wanted to say we are very pleased with the 26' Little Giant. Hubby & I have been considering purchasing one for years and with the heavy rain and gutters that needed cleaning, we decided to give it a try when a little plant decided it had found a good home. : ) The ladder's learning curve was about 10 minutes - the instructions are very easy to follow."
Narrow Steps
Be aware that the steps are a bit narrow. To save on weight, this is important to not make large steps, but it also may make it hard to climb for those who have big feet. A customer had this to say, "The only 'down' sides are that singularly the rungs are a little thin (I have size 7 feet). When doubled they're fine. Given the constructio,n it totally makes sense why they're thin and I wouldn't change a thing - just be prepared for it."
Well Built and Will Support Up to 300 Pounds
The Little Giant Velocity Model 22 exceeds all OSHA and ANSI standards and is industrial rated up to 300 lbs. A customer shared this, "This is a very well built ladder which meets nearly all my needs. At over 200 pounds myself it had no problem even at full extension holding my weight safely. I've moved it into its various shapes as I trimmed the trees around my house at the highest levels the ladder would go. I'd need another 4 feet to hit some of the branches I wanted to do, but that's not the ladders fault. It's well built, easy to change to the various ways it works, and can be folded into a small 6 foot ladder to fit in my house easily. Now, for a regular 6 foot ladder it would be heavy, but considering you have another 6 foot ladder inside the main parts I can't think how it wouldn't be heavy for a 22 foot ladder at fully extended, though I've read it's actually 19 feet ( I didn't measure it myself but I could have used those extra 3 feet if that's true. Never-the-less, the ladder seems like it will last for years without problems and I've very happy with the purchase, at least with the sale price i got it for."
Easy with Store
One of the nice things about The Little Giant 22-Foot Velocity Multi-Use Ladder is that it will store easily standing upright without having to lean against a wall. A customer had this to say, "The absolute best thing I love about this ladder? It can stand up by itself in storage (no leaning against something). It is very versatile, especially for higher, awkward places."
Extends to 19 Feet
It may be confusing, but keep in mind that even though this is a 22-foot ladder it only extends to 19 feet. This is also in the description if you read it carefully. A few extra feet might not be a make or break deal unless you are planning on reaching a high roof and then every foot counts. A customer explains, "This ladder is advertised as a 22 foot ladder. Keep in mind how manufacturers measure ladders: while this says it is 22 feet, it is actually about 19 feet tip to tip. You will find the same of a Werner or other maker’s multi-use ladders."
Fair Price
The Little Giant 22-Foot Velocity Multi-Use Ladder is not a cheaply priced ladder, not is it on the high end. What it is, is a ladder priced right for what you get. A customer said what others were saying when he said this, "It is well worth the price, as it is much safer than any ladder we have used before and I can climb confident that my ladder will not let me down (literally and figuratively)."
