Good Weight Threshold
This swing set can hold up to 1,050 pounds. This is a good weight maximum compared to a lot of other similarly priced swings. Here is a comment from a customer about the weight limit, "I have tons of kids that come over and play with my two daughters ranging from 9-3 years old, and they all seem to like it. My wife uses the swing and she weighs 115-120 lb."
There were a lot of complaints of hardware issues. Here is one of those complaints, "Very nice swing set now that it's all finally together, our four year old loves it and still has some portions that she can grow into as she ages. We had issues with the hardware like a lot of other reviewers said. Yes the bags were all labeled for the individual pieces and yes the instructions made sense, but the bags were all ripped open from being thrown in a huge box full of poles and big playground pieces and then sent out on rough delivery trucks. The box itself has holes cut out in it so these loose hardware pieces easily fell out and I literally had to hunt through my yard and driveway picking up a trail of bolts and washers, what we were missing is most likely still on the delivery truck floor. Maker should put a small box within the larger one just to keep the hardware bags contained. Other than the huge hassle of finding the pieces and sorting them the instructions are very straight forward and the detailed hardware pictures lets you figure out what's missing. It was a great price for the style of set and am I'm happy with the look of it in our yard, perfect timing for lots of summer use!"
The Flexible Flyer “World Of Fun” Swing Set has stood the test of time according to some customers who left feedback. Here is one of the comments on sturdiness, "We have had this swing set for over 1 year now and we love it. Directions are pretty straightforward, but you will probably have to adjust here and there. 2 guys put it together in about 2.5 hours for my son's birthday party. It was put through its paces that day with many kiddos on it ages 2-12. It stood up that day and we have been having fun with it ever since. We get 3 -4 kids on it at a time, usually 3-7 years old. I have to admit that I have also played on it and I am about 180 lbs. This is a VERY sturdy play set, the colors look great, and the materials are all high quality. I would absolutely purchase this again!"
Mixed Results on Ease of Instruction
There were mixed results on ease of assembly. One common complaint was that the directions were hard to understand. However, with that being said, most said that even despite bad directions, the swing set was fairly easy to assemble. Here is a comment that sums up what a lot of people were saying, "First, the instructions are unnecessarily difficult. They really should have someone rewrite them. It really is very easy to assemble, and my husband and I put it together in one evening. However, we had some major set-backs because the instructions left out important details in a couple of critical areas. One is when you are putting together the main beam that runs across the top, there are round holes and slotted holes in it. The slotted holes face downward. That wasn't noted in the instructions until you are actually attaching the swings, so you'd have to take the bolts out and rotate the beam if you didn't happen to do it correctly earlier on. Another annoying thing about the instructions is that the parts aren't labeled and the little bags of screws are labeled something different than what is in the instructions."
The Box That It's Shipped in Could Be Improved
The box that this swing set is shipped in had some complaints. Small hardware pieces were being lost during shipment for some customers. Here is one of the complaints, "I do agree, that the box is very poorly designed, at the bottom outer-side, there were three holes next to each other, 2-3 inches in diameter. I do not know why they are there, but I can easily see how a bag of parts can rip and easily get lost."
Chain Guards Are a Great Safety Feature
Your kids shouldn't have any pinched fingers when using this swing set thanks to the chain guards. Here is one of the comments about plastic covers on the chains, "The swings have plastic covers on the chains, so no pinched fingers."
Depending on Your Surface Type, You May Need Stronger Anchors
Some customers purchased anchors. While some were happy with the anchors, others were not impressed. A lot of this will depend on your soil type. Here is one of the comments about anchors, "Living where we do, we have very soft sand for our backyard, the recommended anchors were useless. To anchor it, I purchased four 1.5" PVC T-shapes, non-threaded, and glued them on to each corner pole. I then dug a small hole, about 12" inches in diameter, and about 10 inches deep. I had left over garden rocks from a previous yard project, levelled the bottom of the hole flat, and put the swingset into the holes. The two middle holes had more rocks because they weren't extended by the PVC T-bracket."
The Flexible Flyer Swing Set is priced well for what you are getting. Here is what one customer had to say about the price, "Good quality. Well worth the price. The swing set is sturdy and seems like it will hold up well over time."
Flexible Flyer “World Of Fun” Swing Set Conclusion
The Flexible Flyer “World Of Fun” Swing Set is a well priced swing set that has a good weight capacity set at 1,050 pounds. It has a very strong and durable frame. However there were quite a few complaints about poorly written directions. Also, there were complaints about the hardware not organized very well. You may need anchors with this swing set, and even better anchors than what is sold as an extra with this swing set. Other than those few complaints, most of the comments about this swing set were very positive. If you are looking for a swing set that your kids can continue to use well beyond the toddler years, this is a great choice.
