Eno DoubleNest Hammock Review: What the Experts Think
Review of the Eno DoubleNest Hammock
The Eno DoubleNest Hammock ranks as one of the supreme hammocks for two. It is the company's “bread and butter” hammock for good reason. It is big enough for two and also comfortable enough just for one. When reviewing this hammock, the Eno DoubleNest Hammock stood out as the showcase deluxe hammock for several reasons.
In this review I'll be covering the features of this hammock that make it popular. I'm also including a con section. Overall though, there are way more pros than cons for the Eno DoubleNest Hammock. If this isn't the one for you, check out our Top Ten Hammocks.
Is this the perfect hammock for you? We think it will be just want you need because this is our top rated hammock. See for yourself!
Veteran campers know that packing light is important, whether you are backpacking or taking an RV along. You don't want to be weighed down nor bulked down by your equipment.
A big benefit to this product is that the Eno DoubleNest Hammock is small enough to take with you anywhere. Weighing in at only 19 ounces, the Eno DoubleNest Hammock is not going to weigh you down. It also will not take up much space. The Eno DoubleNest Hammock packs up to 5 inch by 5 inch dimensions. When it is unfolded the dimensions are 9'4” X 6'2.” As far as size and weight go, the Eno DoubleNest Hammock ranks great.
The Eno DoubleNest Hammock does not compromise strength for lightness. This hammock is made from 70D High Teancity Nylon Taffeta. What does that mean for you? It means that it is strong (It can support up to 400 pounds) but also breaths. You don't want to be laying on a tarp-like hammock in the summer because it won't breath nor nor keep you cool. But no worries here for a sweaty backside with the Eno DoubleNest Hammock. Even light breezes will reach your skin right through the material. The material is also quick drying.
With the Eno DoubleNest Hammock you don't have to worry about the stitching coming apart. This is truly a well built hammock, as it is triple stitched. The durability of the material is a big plus. When I buy anything made of material I like to examine the stitching closely. Clothes usually come apart first at the seams if they aren't stitched well. The same holds true for hammocks. But you won't have to worry about the triple stitching coming apart on the Eno DoubleNest Hammock.
Many people who used this hammock for two, commented that the high quality of material used would also be great for one larger person in addition to two medium sized people. Because it has a 400 pound limit, it is made for heavy weight with lots of room.
The material itself is smooth and feels good against the skin. Because of this feature, it's going to be comfortable to wear shorts or minimal clothing in the Eno DoubleNest Hammock.
There is nothing more frustrating than taking up a large amount of your time in trying to set something up. This is especially true when you are tired and wanting a place to lay down and relax. Thankfully, this hammock sets up quickly.
People who have set up this hammock unanimously say it sets up very easily. Eno sells straps though they do not come with the hammock. I highly recommend buying the straps when you make your hammock purchase. The straps allow for different widths between trees. Also, with the strap set up you do not need to be a master at tying knots. Unless you enjoy tying knots, for many people the straps are a big plus.
The Eno DoubleNest Hammock fits into a convenient pouch that is attached to the hammock. This is a bonus for people who loose stuff. The whole hammock will compress down to the size of a grapefruit when in the pouch.
The Eno DoubleNest Hammock is very easy to care for. You can spot clean or wash with cold water. It will air dry very quickly. The company recommends either machine washing your hammock in a front loading washer or hand washing your hammock.
My review of the Eno DoubleNest Hammock is mostly on the positive side, so I am just going to add a con session here below without the pro section. Check out the pro and con summary section below for a quick run down of both the pros and cons.
- Because the Eno Double Nest Hammock is made to breath, it won't insulate you from the cold. For cold days and nights you will need a blanket, sleeping mat or something under you in order to stay warm.
- The Eno Double Nest Hammock may be able to seat two, but to try to have two people lay down horizontally on it, will be very close and tight quarters. It can hold two comfortably only when sitting with feet hanging out, not laying down. This is typical of most double camping hammocks.
- This hammock is priced a little on the high side. But you also get what you pay for. For the price you are getting a great hammock, but if your budget is limited, you can find cheaper ones to purchase.
- Remember that this hammock, does not come with a strap system. So make sure to order your straps separately.
Do We Recommend?
The Eno DoubleNest Hammock is ideal for camping, boating, traveling, backpacking, hiking or just for hanging in your yard. The reviews I've read on this hammock all rate it very high.
Remember, many people who used it for overnight camping highly recommended a sleep pad for keeping warm as even the slightest breeze will end up cooling you down. The plus side of this, is that you can keep cool on hot days.
The Eno DoubleNest is going to hold up for the long haul. Keep that in mind if the price is bothering you. How much will you pay if you need to purchase another cheaper hammock, a couple years down the line or sooner. This hammock is built to last.
I highly recommend this hammock. I feel you won't be disappointed by an Eno DoubleNest Hammock. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your product or notice any defects, Eno will replace or refund your hammock.
