Review of the Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLAT

The Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLAT is very simple in design and very popular. And it's popular for good reason. This feeder is made from 90% post-consumer recycle plastic. It has a powder coated metal screen bottom that allows for drainage. No more soggy shells to contend with. The feeder is sturdy with a screwed together construction. This feeder should last for many years. A hanging cable is included. As an added bonus the Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLATs are made in the USA.

Sturdy Yet Genius Design

One of the best things about this feeder is the design.  One customer summed this feeder up well when she said, "I am very happy with this feeder, which I have had for about a month now. It is sturdy and very well-made. I like the fact that it is plastic and not wood, as I think it will last longer. It is well-balanced and when it swings in the wind, it does not tip over. Rain water drains through the screen, but I still dump the seed out after a rain, to avoid molding and sprouting. When I want to clean out the empty hulls, it is easy to tip it over and the hulls fall right out. It attracts lots of birds, especially cardinals, who prefer to perch on it rather than any kind of closed feeder. I am thinking of buying another one of these feeders."

Types of Birds This Feeder Will Attract

The Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLAT will attract Bluebirds, Cardinals, Chickadees, Doves, Finches,Flickers, Goldfinches, Grosbeaks, Juncos, Mockingbirds, Nuthatches, Orioles, Redpolls, Siskins, Woodpeckers and Wrens.

Birds Love It!

So, we've heard what customers had to say about this feeder - but what about the birds?  One customer creatively explained what the birds thought about it here, "From our birds - THANK YOU MOM!!! Wow, should have put one of these out years ago. I was trying to hang it & the finches & nut hatches were already landing on it.  My birds are spoiled & very use to me being out in the am with their feeders. Very cold morning, so they were ready for their food.  Of course being an open feeder, here come all the big birds as well.  But, I am retired & I can see the feeder, so I scare the big ones away so the little cute ones can get in there. I put in on a very tall shepherd hook so the squirrels will be less tempted but know they will. Great for us bird lovers."

Ease of Cleaning

When reading about some other bird feeders, one common complaint is how hard they can be to clean.  This is not the case with the Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLAT!  Customers overwhelmingly left positive comments on how easy this feeder was to clean.  Here is one of the comments that represented many similar responses, "Excellent quality.  I like the durable plastic as I know this will last a very long time and not rot.  The screen does not come out but there really isn't a need as it's very simple to just dump old seed and spray off.  I will purchase this type of plastic feeder as I add more feeding stations to my yard.  Any type of seed can be used."

Pros

The Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLAT uses a simple yet sturdy design.  It is very easy to clean and because of the mesh bottom seldom needs cleaned at all.  One of the biggest advantages to this feeder is that it attracts a wide range of birds.  Some feeders are constructed in a way to actually discourage certain birds from visiting and eating.  This is not so with the Woodlink Going Green Platform Bird Feeder Model GGPLAT.  It is also compatible with many types of bird food including seed, suet, fruits and nuts.

Cons

Some people felt like the price was a bit high for this feeder.  I think because this feeder is so simple it design, people expected a less expensive product.  While it was not real pricey, it also was not on the low end of the price scale either for what you get.
