Kills Everything

One thing is very evident, and that is that this weed killer, kills everything it touches.  A customer shared, “Whoever thought up this concoction is a genius! The last few years my backyard has been overtaken by creeping charlie, clovers, and wild violets. This year I hit a breaking point when I started cutting the lawn and realized something had to give. I did a lot of research online to figure out what to use and I came across this stuff. It’s really hard to find something that will kill broadleafs, dandelions, and won’t damage your grass. This stuff hit it on every level. I’ve done two applications so far and just about all of the wild violets, creeping charlie, and clovers are either gone or dwindling to near death! My grass hasn’t looked this good in years. The dandelions don’t even stand a chance! I had about 15-20 in my front yard and I sprayed each one individually and I’m not even kidding, they were falling over within 12 hours and didn’t even remotely damage the grass. The best part is you can see throughout the neighborhood that the dandelions and wild violets are terrible this year, but you wouldn’t know it if you looked at my yard! If you’re having the dandelion problem this year buy this and apply immediately you will not be disappointed. Without a doubt, I will continue to buy this year after year.”

Use Caution Since It will Kill Grass

A lot of people mistakenly killed their grass by not being careful when they applied PBI/Gordon 652400 Speed Zone Lawn Weed Killer.  A customer shared this, “Careful, careful, careful. This stuff is effective, but when applied in hot weather, can burn the desirable grasses that surround the broadleaf weeds. Plantain is a broadleaf weed that is especially difficult to eradicate. It sometimes takes 2 applications (spaced weeks apart). This product contains three effective agents, but as I found last year, NOTHING works 100%, and EVERYTHING burns, regardless of the concentration when it is hot outside. During the heat of the summer, I tried an experiment. After the sun set, I made a solution of it and sprayed a group of plantains. After about 3 weeks, I had no plantains, nor grass, and so I learned that if this stuff is used properly, one can have a better lawn. But better does not equal 100% weed free.”

Don’t Spray on Windy Day

If you spray on a windy day, you risk inhaling this weedkiller which is not going to be good for your body.  It especially could be harmful to your eyes in addition to your lungs.  You also may spray vegetation that you didn’t intend to kill if you use this product on a windy or even slightly breezy day.  A man shared this advice, “Be careful where you spray it!  A slight breeze while you’re spraying near the flower bed and you’ve just whacked the wife’s garden.  Walk away slowly and disavow any knowledge.”

Not Available In All The States

This weed killer is not allowed to be sold nor shipped to Alaska, Washington DC, Massachussetts, New Jersey nor Vermont.

Expensive

This is an expensive weedkiller, there is no getting around that fact.  However, a lot of people who acknowledged that it was pricey still thought that they had made a good purchase.  A customer shared, “Get past the expense…just put it out of mind.  This stuff works.  It will be all you need to eliminate weeds from your lawn.  Stop trying everything else that is cheaper and in a bigger container…just use this and be done.  Great product.”

You Will Need A Hand Sprayer To Apply This Product

The The PBI/Gordon 652400 Speed Zone Lawn Weed Killer comes in a bottle however, you will need to purchase a handsprayer in order for it to be applied.  A customer share this, “I have tried about everything to get rid of those little ground ivy vines that weave their way through the grass and take over the lawn. I normally apply Scotts weed killer using a spreader in the spring and fall, but these pesky vines always quickly recover.  I read about this product on a lawn blog and found that it does the job.  It requires that you use a hand sprayer and that is a little bit of a hassle.  I found that it killed most of the ivy on the first application.  I noticed some recovery after a couple of weeks, but a second, lighter application completely wiped it out.”

Many Reports of This Not Working

Despite a lot of comments about how quickly and effectively this weed killer worked, there was also a lot of negative feedback about it not working.  Here is one of those comments, “I don’t like to apply chemicals to kill weeds but this Creeping Charlie took over about 1/4 of the lawn so this time I thought I would try this product. I purchased Speed Zone and applied per directions. I did not over or under apply, using a sprayer pulled behind tractor. Applied in ideal circumstances in fall. 3 weeks later the Creeping Charlie was growing just fine–appeared healthy all the way through fall until now, with snow covering the land. I would have thought a few leaves of this weed would start to shrivel… Even a few areas that were double coated near the border of lawn were happily (can a weed be happy?) expanding over the turf like they just got a drink of cool water.”

Bottles Sometimes Leak Upon Arrival

Unfortunately, not all bottles of this product arrived in good condition.  This is a poison that you shouldn’t get on your skin though some did just that.  A customer shared, “Received this product yesterday. When I opened up the inner package I got the speed zone all over my hand because the lid must have been loose.  It had a piece of tape on the top of the bottle.  Speed zone was all through the inner package, my hands, and the bottom label soaked.”
