The Liberty Garden Hose holds up to 200 feet of 5/8 inch garden hose (not included). It is made of industrial grade, heavy duty, solid wall mounted reel that anchors to lawn or turf. The steel is 13 gauge that has a powdered coated finish which makes it weather resistant. Included with this reel is 5 feet of leader hose. Mounting hardware is not included.
Price
The price is great on this hose reel. There are some flaws as described below, but price isn’t one of them.
Poor Design Where Hose Attaches
The location of the hose to attachment had many complaints. You are suppose to attach the hose, then run it over the guide wheel to get it between the guide wheels to roll it up. However, doing so, kinks the hose.
Cheap Lead Hose
There were a lot of complaints about the leader hose coming apart at the attachments. Here is just one of the many comments about the leader hose, “The cheap 6 foot piece of feeder hose had burst apart at the joint after a few minutes of standard city water pressure.”
Rusts Easily
There were many complaints about how easily and quickly that this hose reel rusted. A customer describes the rust issue, “It is rusting like crazy. In the outer to large “wheels” that keep the hose inside there are small holes. Not sure why there are small holes here, but whatever the case is humidity gets inside there and rusts out the inside of the wheel. So rust continually runs out.”
Will Need to Be Secured to Something
It would be to your benefit to secure it otherwise you will need to hold it every time you recoil the hose. A customer explained, “Tried to secure on ground using enclosed earth staples. Didn’t work. Added 4 more, 12″ staples, still didn’t hold. Husband going to mount on house. Sure hope that works. For now, holding bottom piece down with our foot and it rolls in nice and easy. You do have to guide in with your other hand which I didn’t realize. This will be a bit of a pain but if it last more than 2 years we’ll be happy.”
Reel Doesn’t Direct the Hose Well
The reel does not direct the hose in winding well. Many customers commented that you will have to manually direct the hose while you use your other hand to turn the crank to wind it up. This defeats a lot of the purpose of having a hose reel, so this is definitely not a good feature.

I had a hard time finding much good to say about this hose reel. The only favorable comments I could find from customers were about the low price. Some of the negatives with this hose reel had to do with how it was attached to the leader hose, the leader hose being cheaply made, the metal rusting easily, reel not directly the hose in correctly and how it needs to be mounted to something. This reel will work, but it is not of very high quality.
