Ahh… fall. There’s nothing quite like the sweet aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, or apple spice. Buying a fall scented candle is great, but making your own DIY candle is even better! How fun would it be to actually make the fall smell that everyone loves? It’s easy, fun, and can be done on a chilly fall evening. Here’s how to make your own fall scented DIY candle.

What You’ll Need

  • Candle Container (mason jars work great)
  • Candle wicks
  • Soy wax flakes
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • ½ Tbsp ground clove

Making Your Candle

Step 1

First, you’ll need to melt your wax. Soy wax flakes are easy to melt since they come in small pieces. The microwave will melt the wax just fine. A pint-sized mason jar will need two cups of wax flakes. The amount of wax flakes will differ depending on the container you are using. Start melting your wax in the microwave one cup at a time, then stir in one-minute increments. When the first cup is melted, add in the second cup of wax and continue to stir every minute. Do this until all the wax is melted. Make sure to use a microwave-safe container that you don’t mind getting wax all over.

Step 2

Prepare your candle wick while your wax is melting. Take a wood skewer or pencil and put it across the top of your jar. Then wrap the end of the wick around the pencil so that it stands upright. The metal end of the wick should be touching the bottom of the jar. Doing this will keep the wick in place while you pour the wax into the jar.

Step 3

Add the spices to the melted wax and stir it well, making sure that all the spices are mixed throughout the wax. Use the spices listed above, add to them, or use your own. Make the scent completely your own!

Step 4

Then pour the melted wax into your candle container. Make sure that the wick stays in place while you’re pouring. You won’t be able to move the wick once the wax hardens. Pour very carefully.

Step 5

Let your candle firm up for about 4-5 hours before you use it. The wax will turn completely white once it has hardened. Then you’ll have your very own DIY candle! Simple, easy, and so fun! The candle looks really beautiful because you can see all the brown spices throughout the white wax. It makes the candle look unique and special.

Summing Up

This fall scented DIY candle would make a great addition to your home, or make a bunch and give them out as holiday gifts. People will love getting something that you made yourself. They’ll also love the warm and inviting smell of their DIY candle. Light the wax and enjoy the sweet aroma of cinnamon and grab yourself a cup of hot chocolate. Settle in for a relaxing Fall evening curled up reading a good book, while you smell your very own fall scented DIY candle.
