How to Get Rid of Wasps Naturally: 4 Effective Solutions

When summer comes, so do all the pests. Wasps can be a nuisance in your yard if you have a wasp problem. They can make nests, and hurt your kids. There are all sorts of pesticides you can use to get rid of wasps. These pesticides are full of chemicals, but they get the job done. There are natural alternatives to killing with chemicals. Here is how to get rid of wasps naturally.

Ways to Get Rid of Wasps:

Clove-Geranium-Lemongrass Oil Blend

This combination of essential oils has shown to be very effective at repelling wasps. Wasps tend to build their nests in the same place every year. So if you know you have a wasp problem under the roof of your porch, spray this there. You can mix these essential oils with water in a spray bottle. Spray any little crack in your house that wasps might get in. This oil will prevent wasps from building nests in places that they have built in the past. This is a very natural way to repel wasps. It’s cheap, easy, and doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals.

Mint Oil

Wasps do not like mint oil. You can buy wasp repellent that contains mint oil. Or you can just use mint oil. Wasps will leave if mint oil is present. You can spray mint oil directly on their nest, or spray it where you tend to see them most. Planting mint might also help keep the wasps at bay. Mint leaves still repel wasps but they aren’t as potent as mint oil.

Wasp Traps

You can purchase a wasp trap almost anywhere. A wasp trap lures wasps inside it with sugar water. Once the wasps get inside, they cannot get out. You could build your own wasps trap if diy projects are your thing. There are lots of options available and you can buy a trap that looks like a pretty decoration. Make sure that you place the wasp trap near the nest instead of just in your yard. If you just place the trap anywhere, you will probably just end up catching wasps that are passing through. That wouldn’t help your wasp situation.

Soap and Water

Soap and water will kill wasps. The soap will clog their breathing pores and that causing them to die. If you don’t want to kill wasps consider using some of the repelling methods. If you have a severe wasp problem and need to kill them, this method will do the trick. Simply mix dish soap and water in a spray bottle and spray it on a wasp nest. Spraying it on the nest in the night might be more effective than in the day. Wasps go out during the day so they might not be home when you spray your mixture.

Summing Up

Wasps can cause a big problem for you and your family. These natural ways to get rid of wasps will help the situation. None of these methods contain anything harmful to humans and are all natural ways to solve the problem. Try several different methods if some are not working. You don’t have to live with wasps.
