Item Specifics

The WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer is one of the most powerful hedge trimmers that this company has ever offered.  It weighs 10.1 pounds so it's not one of the heaviest but also not the lightest hedge trimmer out there.  It does weigh much less than the gas powered hedge trimmers on the market.  This hedge trimmer is part of the WORX 56V Power Share program.

The ergonomic design is made to be balanced and comfortable to operate.  Whatever kind of hedge trimming it is used for, the WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer should have plenty of power to get the job accomplished.  There will be no cord to contend with and also no gas powered machine kind of maintenance that will need done.

The WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer is designed to cut up to 3/4 inch in diameter branches.  It is designed with features such as a soft grip rear handle and D-shaped front handle for maximum comfort and control.  A clear-view, hi-impact hand guard angled in front of the handle provides protection and also helps deflect flying debris.

The blades are stamped-steel with a smooth-cutting, dual action motion.  The 24 inch blades minimize vibration and reduce operator fatigue.  This is especially important for long trimming sessions with this hedge trimmer.  The fully hardened blades are designed to operate at 2,200 strokes per minute.

Fairly Loud Blade

Compared to other trimmers, The WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer does have a fairly loud blade.  Still though it is not going to be as loud as most gas-powered hedge trimmers.  Even with it being louder than most cordless hedge trimmers, customers were forgiving and still liked it.  Here is what one had to say, "Fairly loud blade compared to other corded and cordless trimmers - but cuts excellently with fewer passes than others that I've owned."

Not the Heaviest, but Still Heavy

At 12.1 pounds, this hedge trimmer is a bit hard to hold for an extended amount of time.  A lot of this will depend on what kind of work you are doing.  If you have to hold it up above your head or at awkward angles, you may have a hard time.  Still, though this is not the heaviest hedge trimmer out there. There are some that are much heavier.

Some people suggested to keep two hands on deck at all times.  Here is one customer's advice and feedback, "Heavier than most cordless trimmers, hence it requires 2 hands on deck at all times.  Not too much of a problem, but makes one handed trimming when reaching across shrubs impossible unless you defeat the overhead handle switch.  Fairly loud blade compared to other corded and cordless trimmers - but cuts excellently with fewer passes than others that I've owned."

Quality Battery

A cordless machine is really only as good as the battery.  For The WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer, the battery received positive feedback from customers.  Here is just one of many comments about the battery, "Excellent Product, Easy to use for a 70 year old man, Very Quit, very powerful Battery.. I recommend this product."

WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer Conclusion

The WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer is powerful cordless hedge trimmer with a good battery.  Customers liked that the battery held a charge well and also charged up easily.  At 10.1 pounds this is a fairly heavy hedge trimmer. Most people found that they needed to use 2 hands at all times while operating it. It is going to be fairly loud according to people who have operated it, but it won't be as loud as a gas powered hedge trimmer.  It is going to be able to cut up to 3/4 inch twigs which is standard for a hedge trimmer of this price.

Common Questions

Here are some top questions that I found for people considering buying a WORX Lithium-Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer.

  • chevron-circle-right
How do you sharpen and oil the blade?  The handbook shows a picture but no specifics.  Use a flat file and move it back and forth on the blades using the angle of the blade as a guide. You also might use the same tool as is used to sharpen a chain saw which allows you to preset the angle.
  • chevron-circle-right
Do you have to continuously hold the switch or can it be locked while cutting? You have to continually hold both switches. There is one in the handle and one trigger. The unit is fairly heavy though so single handed operation is difficult.
  • chevron-circle-right
Is the 56 volt battery on the hedge trimmer interchangeable with the 56 volt grass string trimmer?  Yes, they are interchangeable.
