Simple Ways to Declutter Your Home for a Stress Free Life

Having tons of stuff overflowing out of bathrooms, closets, and cabinets is really stressful. It makes you feel like everything is toppling out on top of you. Sometimes there’s an avalanche of Tupperware, or maybe your closet is filled to the brim with clothes that you hardly ever wear. It’s time to organize and declutter your home and simplify your life. Here are some simple ways to declutter your home for a stress-free life.

Bathrooms

Start with the bathrooms. You’ll notice tons of garbage in there that can be thrown away immediately. Look under your bathroom sink, then take note of everything that you actually use. There are usually lots of open bottles of hair product that don’t get used. Toss all the things that you don’t use every day. Next, move on to your medicine cabinet. Get rid of old medications and old makeup that you don’t use. You’ll be surprised at how many things can be thrown away.

Bedrooms

First, make your bed. This makes your room feel 10x cleaner without having to work too hard. It also makes you feel like you’re making significant progress. Then start with your dressers and put away things that don’t belong there. Sometimes old books can collect there when you’re done reading them. Old mail that you don’t need or dishes from when you had breakfast in bed can also make an appearance. Put away anything that doesn’t belong next to your bed. Then throw away all the trash that has collected there. There’s going to be more than you realize. You’ll feel much better looking at your nightstand or dresser once it’s cleared off of all that junk.

Entryways

Entryways are so easily cluttered because people just want to take off their shoes and coats immediately. Usually, dropping them right on the floor. First, pick up all the shoes that are by the door or stacked in the entryway. Have a designated spot for the shoes like a basket or cupboard. Put any jackets or coats on a hook. There are tons of DIY coat hangers you can try too. Some other things tend to find their way into the entryway that seemed to have just been dumped there. Put away all the things that don’t belong there, then throw away any trash that has accumulated.

Living Rooms

This room is always a beast to tackle. Living rooms get so much use every day that it’s almost impossible to keep it clean all the time. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be clutter free. One of the easiest ways to keep your living room clutter free is to have some storage furniture to put things in. Storage bins or ottomans are a great idea because they can hold so many things without them being out in the open. Things that you need in the living room but not necessarily out in the open would go great inside a storage ottoman. It’s the perfect place for things like board games. Look under the couches and make sure you’ve got everything that finds its way under there. Then make sure you stay on top of your living room and declutter it regularly.

Summing Up

There are so many clever ways to declutter your house, like adding simple storage, doing DIY projects, and making a game out of it so that everyone helps pick things up. Life goes so much smoother when you declutter your home. Things are easier to access, your stress levels will go down, and you won’t feel like your house is closing in on you. These simple ways to declutter your home are quick and easy and can be done all in an afternoon. Stop living in a cluttered mess and start to declutter your home today.
