Sometimes, things happen like windstorms may blow off shingles. Or you may be at the point when it’s time to replace your whole roof, but you don’t have the money yet. This product will help buy you time before you need to replace the whole roof. A customer shared, “Used these on the roof because we had a major leak. It helped a great deal and it been 5 months since we patched. With crazy weather in New Orleans… Like flood, tornado, and heavy rain. It hasn’t leaked yet! This is truly a great product and hope it will help keep the water leaked solved until we can save enough money to redo the whole roof!I hope this review helps other’s on making their shopping decisions much easier.”

Good for RVs Too

If you have a recreational vehicle, you probably already know that it can have some of the same repair issues as a home will need. In fact, RVs may need more repairs than stick homes do, depending on how much you use the RV and what kind of weather the RV must encounter. The Sashco Through The Roof Cement & Patching Sealant will adhere to RV roofs in much the same way that it will adhere to home roof surfaces. A customer shared, “My RV had a leaky roof, I got up there and slathered this stuff on every seam I could find and now it’s dry inside. It went through some decent rain storms here in Northern California as well. I was impressed, this stuff outperformed much more expensive self leveling lap sealant and was easy to use!”

Dries Clear

The Sashco Through The Roof Cement & Patching Sealant will dry clear. This may be helpful information depending on where you are using it and ifi t will be seen or not. A customer shared, “This is the best sealant I’ve used so far. I like it much more than the black Henry’s product i used several years ago. This stuff is very clear and dries clear. It has the consistency of thick honey. I used this to seal nail holes, exposed nail heads, a bullet hole, and also to secure a few tiles that have lifted a little. I applied this one day before we got over two inches of rain the next day and no leaks! Im very satisfied. Unlike the Henry’s product that basically sits on top of what you sealed, this products thick honey like consistency allows it to also reach and seal deep down inside a nail hole for instance. I believe that’s what makes this product so effective.”

Curing Process Takes a Week

Even though you may find that this sealant is ready after a couple of days, it’s best to plan for a full week for the cure to take place. Don’t make the mistake that many people, including myself have made when it comes to waiting for a product to completely cure. Plan for it and give this product time to cure. A customer shared, “Full cure takes up to a week but they state you can apply this in the rain. I checked where i applied it a week later and it seems very durable. They claim it lasts up to 20 years but even if it lasts only half that I would still be satisfied.”

Works Well on Chimney Leaks

The Sashco Through The Roof Cement & Patching Sealant can seal up chimneys. This could save you a lot of money instead of replacing a whole chimney. A customer commented, “This stuff worked incredibly well for me. I had a leaking chimney when we got a heavy rain so I had two chimney repair companies take a look. Quotes of $5,500 and $7,200 for some tuck point, crack filling, sealing, a new crown and a few other items. Insane. I decided to go the DIY route until I figured it out. Fortunately, this was my first thing to try. First I used a stiff bristle brush and a screwdriver to clean out all the existing hardened sealer and crumbling cement. Then I spent about an hour squeezing this (very sticky) sealant into every single void I could find, whether I thought it was the culprit or not. It’s been over six months now with plenty of heavy rains and not a single drop inside the chimney. Time will tell how well it holds up but so far I’m very happy. And so is our bank account!”

Good Price for What You Get

Because this is a quality product that works, it really is a good price. Yes, you will pay more than if you buy just silicone, but in the end The Sashco Through The Roof Cement & Patching Sealant will stay on. And that is what matters. If you buy a lesser price product and it doesn’t work or maybe ti doesn’t last as long, you will just be replacing it and spending more. Buy a good product such as this and it will last much longer. A customer commented, “Used this product on and off over the years and would highly recommend. Few more dollars than straight silicone but well worth the price.”

  1. Hey Mariann! Thanks for sharing your review about this sealant. This looks quite promising, but I have a question. Can I use this sealant as a second coating on already coated EPDM roofing?

  2. Hi, Carson! It is recommended that a high-performance polyurethane sealant be cured for at least three days prior to painting. And it also depends on the kind of paint that you are going to apply one full week of drying before applying an oil-based paint and wait 45 days before applying a latex-based paint.

  3. I’ve probably Done 1000 metal roofs, We only used Through The Roof on our seams . No other sealant even comes close. Never have been called back for a leak, Now that says something right there.
