This DIY wreath made from a basket is simply adorable. It has the words “Thankful” on it, but you could write anything you’d like. Surprisingly, this Thanksgiving decoration is very easy to make. It can be slightly difficult to write the lettering on this basket, but even that is not too hard to do.

Supplies Needed:
  • Round shallow basket
  • Faux fall flowers
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black craft paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Sharpie
  • Ribbon or burlap
Instructions:
  1. Start by using your marker to write out the lettering. Remember that you can use any lettering you want. However, if you want it to be a Thanksgiving wreath, you’ll probably want to write something such as “Thankful”.
  2. After you have written out the lettering, take your black paint and paintbrush and trace the lettering. This will make the letters look bolder and more noticeable. Make sure you have a newspaper or a piece of cardboard underneath the basket since the paint may drip through the cracks.
  3. Next, take apart the faux flowers so that there isn’t much of stem. Begin gluing the flowers onto the basket. You can glue the flowers wherever you’d like, but it probably looks best under the lettering. After you have glued as many flowers as you desire on the basket, let the glue dry.
  4. Lastly, glue the ribbon or burlap onto the back of your basket wreath. Let the glue dry, and then hang your wreath up on your door.

Thanksgiving decor starts at your front door. Although a fall wreath may look nice, there are many other ideas for decorating your door. One idea is to hang some pinecones on your door. To make this pinecone decoration, select 8 four- to six-inch pinecones and 8 two-foot-long pieces of silk ribbon. Use a hot-glue gun to adhere the last two inches of each ribbon to the base of a cone. After the glue dries, collect all the ribbon ends and stagger them so that the cones fall at varying lengths. Tie the ribbon ends together in a knot and trim the tips so they are uniform. Slip the knot over a nail on your door.
