Item Specifics

The Cosco Three Step Max Steel Work Platform features a large platform at the top step.  It also features an extended grip handle and a deluxe molded utility tray.  The utility tray can be used for holding paint and tools.  This is an ANSI rated ladder.  It can hold up to 225-pounds, which includes the weight of the user and the tools.  There are slip-resistant step treads for extra security.  A nice feature is the easy fold and lock release that can be done with one hand.  The Cosco Three Step Max Steel Work Platform has non-marring skid-resistant large leg tips and glides.  This product is 30 inches tall from the leg tips all the way to the top step.  This makes it a great stepladder for hard-to-reach areas in your home.  Because it is 30 inches, this ladder is probably too short for jobs like climbing up onto a roof.  But it is the perfect stepladder for other jobs such as reaching high shelves or walls that you need to paint.  Just be aware that it is not too tall.

No Grip on the Feet

A drawback to this ladder is that there are no soft grips on the feet.  Instead, it is hard plastic.  This could make it slip and also scratch a floor if used indoors.  A customer commented, “Like other reviewers, I’ve noticed there is no grip on the feet of this ladder. If you look, the feet is just hard plastic, and it’s not even solid, it’s hollow so you only have about a rectangle of about 1/16″ of an inch of hard plastic that is actually touching the ground. I hope that makes sense. 🙂 Basically there isn’t much surface space on the feet of the ladder that actually makes contact with the ground.  Needless to say, thanks to the plastic base, it slides around a lot on tile and even on veneer flooring.  As long as you’re careful, it shouldn’t be an issue but I’ll probably come up with a way to mount a base on the feet to give it more grip just to be safe.”

No Pinched Fingers

If you have ever pinched your fingers when setting up or taking down other ladders, you should appreciate that this ladder is designed to not pinch.  A customer explained, “Oh, and one very important thing I discovered from shopping around for a step ladder is that other brands that look similar to this have a poorly designed handle that opens and retracts the steps. On other brands the bar that the handle clips to is right at the back edge of the step. So if your not careful you pinch your fingers when you open it (at least the first time). This ladder is designed so that there is no worry of that problem. The bar is set back from the edge and there is a piece of plastic between your fingers and the bar. The clip to the bar is also designed for easy release. So you don’t have to yank it loose from the bar, like other brands.”

Sturdy

The Cosco Three Step Max Steel Work Platform had good reviews for being sturdy.  Here is one of those comments, “The ladder feels extremely sturdy. Other ladders say they have large or oversized steps but this one has them all beat. The full grip you are able to get on the steps allows you to lean into the ladder if you need to, and feel completely secure.  Along with the steps is the construction of the frame.  The large tubular design makes it extra strong and the oversized feet are perfect.  Over course, the tray is of great use also.”

Safe

Not all ladders are safe.  I reviewed some that had multiple reports of injuries due to how the ladder was designed.  Thankful this ladder is not one of those poorly designed types.  The comments coming in were overwhelmingly positive for how safe this ladder is.  Here is one of those comments, “Well I cannot imagine what anyone would complain about. This is a very heavy duty sturdy step ladder. Easy to fold out, even easier to fold up with one hand no less, and the steps are nice and wide for standing on comfortably. You can hold on to the top bar while standing on the top step. I use this to climb in and out of my boat out in the driveway.  The extra wide feet are nice and wide and sturdy so the legs do not sink into the ground.  I can climb all the way to the top step, 30″ high, and climb over the side of my boat while holding on the top bar of the ladder and I do not need to worry about falling.  This ladder is heavy to carry, so I cart it back and forth in my wagon.  I am a 55 yr old disabled woman, so I needed something I did not have to worry about getting injured on.”

Great Price

For what you get, The Cosco Three Step Max Steel Work Platform is a great price.  A customer commented, “We needed to replace our ancient wooden stepladder before it killed someone. This is perfect! Nice and sturdy with the kind of legs and lock in place as soon as you put your weight on the first step. It’s got the little top tray to hold tools or a light bulb or whatever. It’s lightweight and folds up easily for storage.  Also, the price was hard to beat.”

Perfect Size for Small Jobs

Sometimes you need a ladder that isn’t too big to do those small jobs or to reach up just a little higher.  At just 6 feet storage height, this ladder should be perfect for those small jobs.  A customer commented, “This is the perfect size and weight for small jobs inside and outside around my house.  It gave me perfect balance and I felt very secure doing some light painting and installing lighting.  Being able to place both feet on the step gave me better balance.  I am 60 years old and not in the best of shape, so balance is not as strong in order to use a regular ladder. I do not have to hire someone to change light bulbs or do small jobs around the house. Great price, secure and it was delivered as promised.”

Lightweight and Easy to Store

The Cosco Three Step Max Steel Work Platform weighs in at just 12 1/2 pounds and has a storage height of only 6 feet, 2 inches.  This makes it perfect for a house ladder or ladder to take with you camping.  A customer commented, “A surprisingly nice, lightweight ladder.  It replaces my much heavier, slightly shorter, all-metal 3-step ladder and adds several nice features.  It feels nice and stable under my almost 200lbs.”
