Item Specifics
The TaoTronics LED String Lights has fairy lights, which means the bulbs are not large like globe string lights. These decorative outdoor string lights can be used for parties, weddings, restaurants, indoor decorating, shops, gardens, and outdoor Christmas string lights. The copper wire lights can easily bend and be shaped around plants, signs, furniture, and almost everything else. The insulated copper wire keeps the lights at a low temperature so they are safe to touch after many hours of use. Keep in mind that the TaoTronics LED String Lights cannot be extended or connected together. This product can be used even in the rain, because the copper wires are waterproof. The adapter and controller are not waterproof though, so try to keep them water free. These string lights have a 5 foot adapter cord, 33 feet of lighting wire, and 100 individual LED bulbs. The lights come with a 12 month warranty if you are not completely satisfied.
Good Customer Service
If you do receive a faulty product or if you need to return, the customer service should stand behind their product. Here is a comment from a customer followed up by another comment when customer service fixed her problem, “So sad about these! I purchased these for my my kids tent canopy in their room. These lights are absolutely gorgeous, but they didn’t last long. After about 3 months and average use, These wouldn’t turn back on. I’m very sad about these, but I can’t justify repurchasing. Update: Company contacted me and replaced my lights at no charge, and I’ve been using the new set with no problems whatsoever. This set doesn’t get very warm unlike the faulty set, so I must have just gotten a bad one. Customer service is absolutely wonderful. My kids are extremely happy their lights are working again!”
Not Double Ended
You cannot connect these strands to each other. So unfortunately, if you plan on having a string of lights longer than 33 feet, you will need more outlets, or these simply are just not going to work for your project. There is a way to connect them if you are familiar with electrical work. Though many of the customers commented that it was too difficult to learn to do. If you are wanting to connect strands, you may want to buy string lights that have connectors on the ends. Here a customer explains, “Got these lights month or so ago. Finally went to put them up and found you need someone who knows about electricity to hook them together. You have to splice wires to do so unless they sell something to hook them together on one plug. When I emailed the company they wanted my order # from Amazon first. Nice lights but hooking two on same electric plug was way more complicated then they tell you. If you want just a single strand they are awesome!”
Bright but Not a Warm Ambiance
If you are wanting a white and bright look, you may really like these lights. However, if you are wanting a warm look, these may not be the lights for you. A customer explains, “Just a warning that it is brighter than is pictured. The lighting in the product picture looks warmer and more muted, whereas the actual color is MUCH brighter and more white… It’s bright enough where I can actually read under it! I personally don’t mind it, simply because I love the overall look, but if someone’s looking for the warmer light, this may not be the right color for you.. I gave 4 stars because the overall product is great, but the product picture could be more accurate to the true color. Also the packaging needs some sort of seal. Mine arrived open inside the box with the contents spilled out.”
Good Packaging
These lights are fragile, not like Christmas string lights. You will need to be very careful that they don’t drop on the ground or bump against a wall. With that being said, the company received good customer feedback about packaging, which is good since the lights are so fragile. A customer had this to say about the packaging, “They came packaged in a small cylindrical container, with the wire carefully wound around a tube and the plug inside that. A+ for packaging, no damage. The instructions are kind of in Chi-nglish, but you don’t need them anyways. Just unwind, CAREFULLY, and plug into the adapter, then plug into the wall. Voila! These little cute lights with a white-ish-yellow glow appear. All of them worked on my string, which I was not expecting.”
Small but Bright
Don’t let the small stature fool you. These lights will light up a large area. A customer had this to say, “I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this item. It was ordered to be placed over our new hot tub. When I received the package, I was even more thrown (as it was so small). However, when you plug it in you become a believer. The wire was so small, it made it very easy to weave it throughout the lattice over the hot tub. During the day, the lights are so small they are virtually invisible (if you look for them you will see them – but you won’t notice them otherwise). It casts a really nice golden glow over the area. I plugged the string into a remote outlet I purchased at Home Depot for $10 (which comes with a remote). Now, at the push of a button the area is illuminated. Definitely a wow factor. I will say that for a 7′-8′ hot tub you will want to purchase a 2nd string (thinking it won’t be enough) … DON’T DO IT! It will be entirely too much light. 1 string is perfect for a 7′-8′ hot tub (or equivalent area). Very easy to bend and shape.”
Great Price
The TaoTronics LED String Lights are priced well for what you are getting. There were a lot of comments about the good price. Here is one of them, “I’ve been playing with the idea of putting fairy lights in my bedroom for awhile now, and I decided to go for these because of the price and reviews. I’m nothing short of impressed! The copper wire is remarkably flexible and allowed for me to easily bend it around two posters and an air conditioner in my room. Be warned: It’s definitely a lot brighter than I was expecting. It works well for me because they work great as soft reading lights above my bed. The bulbs have a soft shape and aren’t as round and unnatural as other fairy lights I’ve seen. They have a nice warm glow to them. Definitely recommend them for the price and quality!”
