Item Specifics

The Globe String Lights with G40 Bulbs features end-to-end connections, and there is a total of 3 strands.  The total length per string is 25 feet.  As for the bulb spacing, there is a bulb every 12 inches.  The lead length on both ends is 6 inches. A nice feature is that one bad bulb will not affect the other light bulbs.  This product comes with spare fuse.  It is UL Listed for general indoor/outdoor applications.  To install, hand the strand with the empty sockets in the desired location.  Then re-install the bulbs to avoid damaging.  After that, you can either plug in the other strands or only use one strand.  If you live in windy conditions, install the strands far apart enough so that the bulbs don’t collide.  These string lights are perfect for backyard parties, umbrellas, markets, cafes, and weddings. There are 125 watts per string.

Great for RV Awning

These lights are not just for home use.  A customer had this to say about using them for camping, “These are perfect lights for hanging on the awning of my RV. They are super light and I use binder clips to attach them. I bought 2 sets so I could wrap them around side poles so people don’t keep bumping into those poles.”

Longevity Is Questionable

Unfortunately there were a lot of comments about these sting lights not lasting very long.  Here is just one of those comments, “These were great…While they lasted. After reading some of the other reviews, I made sure I was extremely careful when taking these out of the box and when hanging them, so I was confident I wouldn’t run into the same problems others did. It didn’t matter though as one of the bulbs didn’t work from the start. Within three months of having them — using them less than two hours a day — six of the bulbs no longer gave off any light (the filaments are SUPER thin). The reason it gets two stars instead of one is that the light the bulbs give off is very warm and exactly what I was looking for in my reading nook. I was just disappointed with their longevity. I ended up getting rid of the entire string seven months after getting them because so many bulbs went out.”

Give Off a Nice Ambiance

These lights give of a nice ambiance according to customers.  Here is one of those comments, “I was enthused upon purchasing these “light bulb styled” string lights and I was not disappointed.  I hung these up stretching from wall to wall inside my apartment to give the apartment a cozy ambiance while I did my schoolwork, and it did just that. The lights come in a 25 light package and are spaced roughly 11 inches apart. The lights are 25 feet in total length so keep that in mind in how many you should purchase. I installed the lights using some clips from Lowes  that I just hammered in the wall. There are instructions that come with the package, and are very straightforward.  Keep in mind you should hang them up without the bulbs first!  Overall, the lights are very warm and not overpowering, just enough to give that real “Tuscany dinner outside” aesthetic.  Definitely quality lights that should be used to entertain guests and create a relaxing environment.”

Very Fragile

The nature of glass bulbs is to be fragile, but there were a large number of people who said these bulbs were extra fragile and thin.  Use extreme care when installing and/or moving them to another location.  A customer had this to say, “Always remember to remove the lights while moving the string! The lights are very fragile for some reason while moving but are very durable while on the string and hung up.  For example, I broke a bulb when it brushed against my desk but I didn’t realize I was to hang the string portion up before screwing the light bulbs in. Very pretty and useful once you don’t try to move the entire contraption at once.”

Better Than Christmas Lights

Unless you are decorating for Christmas, these string lights will give off a better ambiance than Christmas lights.  Here a customer commented, “My outdoor parties have just jumped up a level! I used to use standard Christmas lights in our courtyard, but for a little more money, these have a way better look and produce more light. You don’t need as many as with Christmas lights either. Actually, a very good quality product and I am very happy with my purchase, though I was scared to spend the money initially. I purchased two strands and ran them across my courtyard and even though I had a strand of xmas lights up as well, I didn’t really need them to have good mood light for an outdoor dinner party.”

Inconsistent Brightness

There were reports of the bulbs having different levels of brightness and also bulbs that burned out.  A customer commented, “One of the most notable features of these lights is the particular style of bulb used, an incandescent model that has a cool retro look when lit up.  So I was disappointed when I found that one of the bulbs included had an inconsistent brightness/color temp that threw off the effect the lights give (see picture) — after a few minutes it burned out.  I would’ve liked to see a little better QC for the bulbs, or maybe a couple extra should be included in the set.  I had to purchase replacement bulbs from another vendor to replace the bulb.”

Good Price for What You Get

These string lights are a very good value for what you are getting.  A customer explained, “I was very skeptical to purchase these lights because 1-I bought some like them from a big name hardware store and know how fragile they are and 2-know someone who purchased some online and said they were broken when he opened them (not these particular ones) and 3 – they are half the price of those I purchased at the hardware store (which only had 10 lights!); therefore, bottom line, I was afraid they would be broken or break while putting them up…double the lights for half the price, I just knew something would go wrong. Anyway, I opened my QUICKLY DELIVERED (2 days) package and all was intact 🙂 yay! Then, I was SUPER careful and took my time taking them out one by one (I tore the card board very carefully) and made sure the bulbs didn’t hit each other while hanging them. They’re PERFECT! And a lot longer than I had anticipated, I forgot the length I guess…I will say, the bulbs are a tad smaller than I had expected, about the size of a ping pong ball but they put out a lot of light! They stay on 24-7 and have been going strong for 2 weeks now!”

  • chevron-circle-right Are replacement bulbs available in case one breaks?  Yes, replacement bulbs are available.  According to the product description, you can either contact the company or search “B00JWJS5IE” on Amazon in order to find new bulbs.
  • chevron-circle-right What is the diameter of the light bulb base (the green part)?  The diameter of the bulb base is about the same as larger Christmas lights.
  • chevron-circle-right Are these OK to hang freely from my house to a post, or do I need to install a wire and hang them from that?  They should be fine unsupported by a wire.  Even though the bulbs are a little heavy (heavier than small lights), it shouldn’t pull the strand down.
