Great for Taking to Concerts That Have Chair Height Limits

If you will be attending a concert with a chair height limit, this chair is a good choice.  A lot of customers bought the ALPS Mountaineering Rendezvous Folding Camp Chair for that purpose.  Here is what one customer commented, “I bought 2 of these chairs for going to concerts where I need ultra low chairs…These concert ground chairs are accepted anywhere where you are allowed to have chairs that allow you to not sit directly on the ground. They are THE MOST COMFORTABLE ground chairs EVER!!! Everyone who sits in them wants to steal them from me, but I closely guard them!!! (I seriously do, as I have tried many other low chairs and all of them are painful for me to sit in.)”

No Cup Holder

Some customers were disappointed that this camping chair did not have a cup holder.  With that being said, this chair is low enough to the ground that you cane easily set your drink on the ground without bending over.  Here is what one customer had to say, “Used for the first time this past week on a trip to the Gulf with my grandchildren. I found it very comfortable and I’m very pleased with my purchase. Appears to be well built. The only thing missing is a couple holder, but hey, I was at the beach and of course this sits low. I just made a little hole and put my cup in the sand!”

Very Comfortable

If you are wanting a comfortable camping chair, this is a good choice.  Customers were pleased at how comfortable this chair was, and said it was much more comfortable compared to other cheap chairs.  This customer explained, “Very comfortable chair and well made. The mesh seat is nice on the beach because it allows the air to get to you. The chair was easy to carry, not too heavy. This chair sits well in the sand and is very comfortable. The only problem that I had with this chair was the fact that every time I would get up to do something, I would have to chase my family members off my chair when I would come back! I told them to order one for themselves!”

Difficult to Fold and Unfold

According to customers, this camping chair is slightly difficult to fold and unfold.  While it wasn’t a common complaint, this is something to keep in mind.  Here is what one customer said, “Folding and unfolding is a bit of a hassle because when folded the back fabric slides off the back poles. Also, you need to pull just the right legs in the right way to get it to fold at all. My old-school rectangular framed chairs are much easier to stow and set up.”

Sturdy

The ALPS Mountaineering Rendezvous Folding Camp Chair is very sturdy according to customers.  Here is one of those comments, “I took this chair to the Blue Grass Festival in Telluride, CO a few weeks ago. The chair is very sturdy and well made. The balance of the chair is also very good allowing you to push off of one arm when sitting down or getting up without the chair tipping over.”

Hard to Get Out of

Customers found that this camping chair was hard to get out of.  One customer had this to say, “The only negative thing I can say about these chairs is that they are hard to get out of. You have to roll sideways off them, like you are rolling out of bed. All other attempts are worth videoing for blackmail as they MUST be hilarious to watch the contortions and flopping around as you attempt one method after another… Of course, this can be a problem if you are in the middle of a crowded row, as you will have to get super friendly with one of your neighbors as you roll into their lap to try and get out of this chair. However, for how comfortable the chair is when you are in them, and for what percentage of the time you spend comfortably sitting in them versus the short amount of time spent in your neighbor’s lap… Seems worth it to me! Plus, imagine how many people you will get to become super familiar with! You might even decide to get up and down a lot just to get extra opportunities to roll on your neighbors!!!”

Holds Up to 300 Pounds

The description of this product says it will hold 300 pounds, and customers found this to be true.  Some customers said that this worked for them even though they were over the weight limit.  A customer shares his experience with this camping chairs, “I’m a 6’3 225lbs firefighter/paramedic. All my muscle and mass comes in handy for work but kinda puts me at a disadvantage when looking for a compact camp chair.  This is my solution.  As others have noted it is low to the ground but I quite like that component, it makes for great lounging around the campsite, lake, and yard. The legs are large enough they don’t sink into the ground and wide enough they provide a lot of security.  So far all the stitching has held up perfectly.  It is a little heavier than I’d like but, hence 4 instead of 5 stars, but it is exactly the list weight so I guess that’s really more on me.”

Too Heavy to Hike With

Customers reported that this camping chair is too heavy to hike with.  They said that it is better when used at the beach or when camping, rather than carrying it as a back pack.  Here is what one customer had to say, “As for backpacking, the chairs are large and will weigh you down since they are heavy and not packable. If you are looking for a good beach/picnic/car camping chair these are very sturdy, made of solid materials and will last quite a while. I always try to invest in good, solid gear and these were a great buy.”

Durable

Customers liked how durable this camping chair is.  According to customers, it does not rip nor break like other camping chairs can.   Here is one of the comments about its durability, “Great strong and sturdy chair.  I’m a heavy 230lb man and this has held up very well after several camping trips. I wanted a chair that would not fall apart or break the cheap plastic joints but this one has proven itself to be durable and can hold my weight getting in and out of it. This is a short/low chair perfect for campfires and packing around.”
