Item Specifics

The Bonsai Tree Soil All Purpose Blend has been formulated by professionals.  It provides the proper moisture and drainage that Bonsai trees need.  This product is 100% organic.  It is a mix of double-sifted compost mulch, calcined clay, vermiculite, and frit.  It also contains 28 elements and minerals that are essential for your Bonsai tree.  This soil can be used with Ficus, Chinese Elms, Jades, Junipers, and other Bonsai plants.  It comes in a 2 quart bag.

Price

For 2 quarts, you really aren’t much for what you are paying.  Here is a customer comment on the price, “For the 10 dollars spent on this I was able to go to a local garden center and buy the components to make a proper bonsai soil mixture.  Also I was able to make gallons of it instead of just two quarts of iffy soil.”

Drainage

The drainage for this soil is questionable.  Here is what one customer had to say about drainage, “This soil mix contains a lot of organics and doesn’t drain well at all. Depending on the species of tree you want to grow there should be some mixture containing some sort of grit, either sifted sharp sand, Akadama or Calcined clay.  This contained nothing of the sort.”

There were customer reports that this soil worked great to revive plants that were sick.  I’ll quote one customer who testified to this soil being responsible for their plant thriving after being given this soil, “I’ve been trying to revive our bonsai that hasn’t been doing well. We repotted it over a week ago with this soil and we can already see that it is doing better. There’s lots of new leaf growth and we are relieved that it seems to be on the road to better health thanks to this bonsai tree soil.”
