Item Specifics

The Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer is a 5 amp electric hedge trimmer featuring a 24 inch cutting blade.  The titanium-coated dual action blades are made to stay stronger longer than other hedge trimming blades.  The  Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer offers a smooth cutting surface designed to reduce vibration.  The swivel blade is ideal for shaping the tops of tall hedges and for grooming areas at the base of the hedges.

The long titanium-coated blades move in 2 directions which creates a clean cut through branches up to 3/4 inches of thickness.  The 24-inch cutting blade can rotate 180 degrees.  It is designed this way so that you can cut at the right angle for precise cuts without having to hold the trimmer sideways.  The ergonomic design features a cushioned grip for less hand and arm fatigue.

The  Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer is backed by a 2 year limited warranty.  It comes with a cardboard storage scabbard to cover the blade.  The  Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer is formerly known as the Hedge Wizard Pro.

This hedge trimmer has dimensions of 43 x 11 x 9 with a weight of 6.4 pounds.

No Blade Scabbard

Several of the customers who bought the  Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer,  reported that there was no blade scabbard included in their box.  I thought it was worth mentioning since several commented on this.

Contractors Approve

When a hedge trimmer is good enough for a professional contractor, that should tell you something.  As explained by the customer, “I’m a contractor. I have a lot of high quality power tools. I needed a powerful trimmer to tame a bush 30 ft long x 15 feet high x 10ft wide. Several landscapers declined to touch it.  The branches grow thick and strong and covered with vicious thorns which will impale anything near it…even through thin leather gloves, even car tires!  I always bleed when handling it and the thorns cause infection.  It is a vine which can become a 30ft tree.  I needed a serious tool with power and strong blades.  For only occasional use, I needed the reliability of electric with the power of a gas engine and this 5hp motor is the most powerful I could find.  I also needed to slice through 5/8-3/4″ branches which are very tough. This Remington RM5124TH Hedge Wizard Pro, simply ate its way through the bush, slicing like butter.  I ended up cutting way back into the center, carving back the old hard dead wood. Shaping was easy with the long dual action blade.”

On and Off Switch Could Have Been Designed Better

A complaint for this hedge trimmer involves the on and off switch.  Apparently it is not of the same quality as the rest of the hedge trimmers on the market.  Some of the on and off switches broke and then the hedge trimmer was no good.  Perhaps the switch will be designed better in the future because of multiple complaints about it.

Lightweight

Finally, an electric hedge trimmer that is lightweight!  A lot of the hedge trimmers that I’ve reviewed have been very heavy, with some over double this weight.  It makes it hard for some people to lift heavy hedge trimmers, especially if they will be holding the trimmer at awkward angles.  The Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer only weighs 6.4 pounds, and people couldn’t be happier about that.  Spoken by a presumably older woman, “It’s very light weight, as I am a 5’2″ grandma and did not get tired holding it. Best investment in a tool I’ve made in a long time.”

Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer Conclusion

The Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer is a lightweight, powerful, electric powered hedge trimmer that is very popular.  Weighing in a just 6.4 pounds, this is one of the lightest in weight hedge trimmers that I’ve reviewed.  Contractors liked it for it’s power and durability.  The on and off switch could have been designed better. Also, many people reported that the blade scabbard was not included in their boxes.  Other than that, if you are ok with a corded hedge trimmer, I say the Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer is a good choice.

Common Questions

Here are some top questions that I found for people considering buying a Remington Electric Hedge Trimmer.

  • chevron-circle-right What is the maximum value of wattage of this tool?  Since it’s not a continuous run apparatus, the watt usage isn’t given. It is rated 5 amps, so the high power implies higher electricity usage.
  • chevron-circle-right Where could I get replacement blades for this trimmer? After nearly two years one of my blades has broken.  You should call Remington @ 866-206-2707. I’m sure they will either sell them or give you the name of a distributor near you.
  • chevron-circle-right Is a charger included?  No, this hedge trimmer does not run on a charger.  You will need to plug it into an electrical outlet to get power.  Make sure to buy a cord so that you will be able to get far out enough from the AC unit to do your yard work.
