Popular Heater to Keep Pipes from Freezing

I personally use an oil filled radiator similar to this heater to keep pipes from freezing whenever the temperatures dip 20 below or so at our place.  This heater works great for this use.  Many other customers also use this heater for this purpose.  One customer explains, “This heater works great in our kitchen. We always have problems with frozen water lines in the winter, but since having this in the kitchen everything has been good ( knock on wood). We leave the cabinet under the sink open with this heater sitting near by.”

A Good Basement Heater

Several customers use this heater to heat their basement.  As explained by a customer who bought this heater, “We use this heater constantly to keep our 1200 square foot basement comfortable. You wouldn’t think it’s working if you stood next to it, but it really does a good job! We have only turned it off twice since we purchased it as it takes a while to heat up. We have not noticed too big an increase in our light bill either.”

Quiet Heater

One of the biggest assets of this heater is that it is quiet.  One of the most common comments left on Amazon was how quiet this heater is.  I also like this about the oil filled radiator that I have used under my house to keep pipes from freezing.  Aside from a few clicks here and there as you listen to the warm oil, this is a completely quiet heater.  Many customers used this heater to keep their loud forced air heaters from kicking on as often.

Here is of many customers explain why they like the DeLonghi ComforTemp Portable Oil-Filled Radiator, “Works really well for my small room. Much better than my old fan based heater. It is quiet and the heat is very gentle. I find that I sleep much better with this heater.”  And another, “Cozy, quiet heat fills a fairly large room that has no other heat source. The black color blends with decor.”

Common Questions

Here are some top questions that I found for people considering buying a DeLonghi ComforTemp Portable Oil-Filled Radiator.

  • chevron-circle-right How much does it cost to run?  This really depends on how much you run it and how much your electric company charges.  I found an answer from a customer that might help: “If you run it on the highest setting, it uses 1500 watts per hour which is 1.5 kilowatts. Our power company charges 7 cents per KWH (kilowatt hour) so if we run it on high for an hour, it costs us 10.5 cents an hour. If you use the lower settings, you use lower watts so the cost is less. Your electric bill should tell you how much you are being charged per KWH.”
  • chevron-circle-right How does the dial work in conjunction with the ComforTemp switch?  As explained by a customer, “According to Page 4 No. 4 of the instructions they don’t work in conjunction. The thermostat operates according to room air temperature, rather than radiator temperature. Turning it counter-clockwise to smaller numbers would decrease the temperature; clockwise to greater numbers would increase the temperature.  Page 4 No. 5 states: With both switches on and the COMFORTEMP button depressed the appliance is automatically set to reach and maintain the suggested & preset ideal energy-saving temperature.”
  • chevron-circle-right Does this unit have a safety tip over switch and an overheat switch?  As answered by a customer: “According to the operator’s manual, this heater does have a safety switch in case of overheating; however, it states that the owner must then contact the nearest service center to restart the heater. The manual does not mention a tip over safety switch, so I assume there is none. I tipped my heater over to see if a tip over would turn off the heater and it did not.”
